Programs & Services
The Institute for Essential Services focuses all of our efforts in five primary areas of service to our community.
Children & Adult Food Program
Food insecurity is a household-level economic and social condition of limited or uncertain access to adequate food. At (TIES) we are committed to serving meals to children up to 18 years old and older adults. Meals are prepackaged and operated by drive-thru or dispersed at convenient scheduled meeting places within Philadelphia. Meals are available to private schools, pre-schools, and adult day care centers.

Holistic Support Services
Provides a personalized, supportive, and integrated approach to enhance methods to nurture growth and learning opportunities, navigate communication roadblocks, and improve the overall well-being of singles, married couples, and families.
Workforce Development Training
Culturally competent and linguistically appropriate strategies are used to help both youth and adults find family-sustaining employment, closing the door of economic disparity in underserved communities. Methods include resource development, referrals to training programs that enhance hidden skills and talents, providing adult literacy programs for residents and bilingual adults, and exploring creative and innovative options for employment that enhance the local economy.

Technology
Through STEM labs (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), we can help children explore their interests in these growing industries. Children and young adults learn to code, can create their websites, and develop mobile apps and games. The program allows them to obtain skills that will carry them into their future and can generate revenue. Access to state-of-the-art computer labs affords children and young adults a tech space with support to complete homework and long-term assignments in an environment without distractions. The Older Adult technology program instructs seniors on how to operate and harness technology as they age in the growing and changing technological trends.
Financial Literacy
Financial literacy is the knowledge and application of various financial skills. Financial literacy includes understanding different financial instruments, such as stocks, bonds, and ETFs, how to save and open personal bank accounts, generate wealth, and create an investment plan. These may include creating a budget, understanding how credit works, and saving for retirement. TIES is devoted to teaching financial literacy skills to youth and adults to interrupt the cycles of poverty and alleviate debt.
